Cardiology, Site Hamburg-Volksdorf

In the Department of Internal Medicine - Cardiology, site Hamburg-Volksdorf, the entire range of cardiac diseases is diagnosed and treated. Focuses are

■ coronary heart disease
■ of acute myocardial infarction
■ Valvular heart disease
■ congenital and acquired heart defects
■ Herzinsuffiezienz
■ Arrhythmias
■ Inflammatory diseases of the cardiovascular system

Our clinic has the latest diagnostics, et al echocardiography, spirometry, ECG diagnosis and blood pressure diagnosis includes. The cath lab is equipped with two ultra-modern left cardiac catheter measuring stations. The offer thus could be extended to the so-called. Electrophysiological examination (EPU) for invasive treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. A special feature is that rule-way only MRI-compatible pacemakers are implanted in our clinic.

Preferably, the minimally invasive coronary angiography is performed on the wrist artery, with all the possibilities of intervention (balloon and stent). This gentle form of left heart catheterization allows the treatment even under warfarin.

One focus is the emergency care acutely ill patients, for example, a heart attack, which is supplied immediately in the cath lab with a balloon and mostly following stenting.

Daily and each time is available for all cardiac emergencies, a team of doctors, physicians, nurses and medical technical assistants in both the left heart catheterization as well as the monitoring and intensive care and in the emergency room. By well-established cooperation with our colleagues in cardiac surgical Albertinen Hospital, chief physician Prof. Dr. Riess, all patients, both in an emergency and in the routine, be supplied by all cardiac surgery promptly in Albertinen hospital.

The cardiology as an independent clinic is part of internal medicine. It is important for us to involve all the special areas in the treatment. For this purpose, we combine cardiology, pulmonology and angiological aspects. As an example we have an ultramodern spiroergometry to cause evaluation of dyspnea, which may be triggered both by the heart and through the lungs.
