Avoidance of Donor Blood

We respect the blieves and traditions of our patients

At the Albertinen Cardiovascular Centre we have specialized in blood-saving surgical techniques. The avoidance of donor blood is not only a benefit in itself - it is also mandatory for patients, who decline the use of donor blood out of religious or ethical reasons.

We are treating patients from a wide range of cultural or religious backgrounds. Respecting their beliefs we are proud to offer cardiac surgery with the promise not to administer donor blood during or after surgery, if that's the wish of the patient.

That is why over the years the Albertinen Cardiovascular Centre has become an institution of choice for many patients from the community of Jehovah's Witnesses. We respect their wish not to be administered donor blood or blood products - being fully aware, that in rare circumstances this decission could mean death for the patient. Thanks to our advanced surgical techniques we have up to date not lost a single patient related to lack of blood yet .
